Responsibilities

How Will You Contribute to the Company?

Cradlepoint is looking for a Technical Documentation Writer to report to the Technical Marketing Engineering (TME) Group within the Product organization. Members of the TME team extensively collaborate with marketing, sales, channel, support, and operations teams which all have their own unique needs. 

 

As an exceptional technical writer, you will be part of a team responsible for the quality, discoverability, and accuracy of the content, delivered in both internal and external mediums. You will do hands-on research to obtain necessary technical content from subject matter experts while translating it into clear, concise, structured documentation.   

 

The ideal candidate loves explaining how technology works and knows with complex systems that good documentation makes the difference between users stumbling and succeeding. You have strong technical skills and love learning new technologies and technical concepts. You like to collaborate and judge your success by the overall success of the customer. 

 

What Will You Do?

  • Produce, update, and maintain high quality, partner and customer-facing documentation for a deeply technical product used by enterprises and fast-growing technology companies
  • Deliver various types of documentation: user guides, FAQs, how-to, technical training, etc.
  • Work directly with product management, product marketing, engineering, customer success, and external customers to ensure the documentation meets and exceeds customer needs
  • Drive documentation as a product, prioritizing and managing both the content and its presentation
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency
  • Work with technical documentation leadership to track and report on content performance against targeted goals
  • Design, test, measure, and improve documentation
  • Develop content plans for new products and features

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Seven (7+) years experience researching, writing, editing, and reviewing product documentation and/or content in support of a technical product
  • Technical understanding of wireless WAN networking 
  • Experience delivering high-quality documentation
  • Experience with Structured Authoring in XML
  • Experience using Content management systems
  • Background working with technical organizations and technical subject matter experts
  • Competent to manage a portfolio of projects through a documentation Lifecycle
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable for Cradlepoint customers
  • Significant attention to detail

Compensation and Benefits at Cradlepoint

At Cradlepoint, we know that our people are the key to our success. We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package to help with your individual needs and goals.

 

Your Pay:

The salary range for this position is listed below. The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.

 

  • $107,020 - $178,920

Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. This variable pay opportunity is dependent upon the attainment of agreed to goals and objectives as determined by Cradlepoint’s Senior Leadership team. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

For California employees, we offer a subsidized HMO option through Kaiser. Cradlepoint also offers subsidized dental and vision coverage.

We invest in both your short and long-term financial wellbeing. Cradlepoint’s 401(k) plan has a 4% company match and immediate vesting. Employees will also receive company-paid employee basic life and AD&D insurance and company-paid disability benefits.

 

Your Time:

Your work-life balance is important to us. Cradlepoint provides generous paid time off, including: 15 days of Flexible Time Off (FTO), four paid quarterly well-being days, and 11 paid annual holidays (includes nine company holidays and up to two floating holidays).  Please note that an employee’s FTO balance and floating holidays may be prorated in the first year, based on start date.   Cradlepoint also offers paid maternity-leave benefits and six weeks 100% paid family leave for all employees.
